Plus, More Guilty Gear -Strive- Updates and Season Pass 2 News Announced

During their ARCREVO America Finals event that was held on 19 March 2022, Arc System Works America, Inc. revealed that longtime fan-favorite boss Testament is making their debut as a playable character in the acclaimed 2.5 fighting game, Guilty Gear -Strive-, for PlayStation®4 / PlayStation®5 / Steam.

The elegant grim reaper, Testament, will be debuting as a playable character for Guilty Gear -Strive- Season Pass 1 owners on March 28 and individual purchase starting March 31. Testament specialises in fighting from a distance using long-ranged scythe moves and attacks from their demon familiars. Check out the new character trailer to see Testament’s play style in action.

In addition, Guilty Gear -Strive- players will see further new game content and features, such as:

● White House Reborn – Introducing a new battle stage, White House Reborn… The additional battle stage White House Reborn, as the name implies, features the Presidential Residence of the United States. It serves as a key stage in the Story Mode, and suffers major damage during the story’s events. It is currently under the process of reconstruction, and has already been restored to its position as the center of the government. Season Pass 1 owners will gain access to the stage after the update patch on March 28, while Individual purchase ($1.99) for the PlayStation®4 / PlayStation®5 versions begins on March 31 and Steam version on March 28.

● Digital Figure Mode – An all-new mode bringing endless creative possibilities, where players can create their own unique scene by placing characters, furniture, effects, and more. You can even adjust the characters’ expressions, camera angles, filters, and more, as well as share creations with other players online. Digital Figure Mode will be available for play after maintenance on March 28. Check out the new mode here.

● “Another Story” Release – Bringing new missions for players, and the final item in the Guilty Gear -Strive- Season Pass 1. “Another Story” shows an alternate perspective on the game’s lore, highlighting many characters who did not make an appearance in the main story. “Another Story” is planned for release at the end of April.

Arc System Works is also excited to confirm the development for Season 2 in Guilty Gear -Strive-! Season 2 will include 4 additional characters, as well as cross-platform play between PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, and Steam versions. Updates are also being prepared to improve the servers, reduce connection time to the server, and stabilize network modes.

Goldlewis Dickinson is the first Season Pass character to join Guilty Gear -Strive- roster

Goldlewis Dickinson, the first Secretary of Defense and active soldier of the United States will be available starting July 27th on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. A jazz aficionado, Goldlewis possesses very strong decision making and leadership skills that he puts to good use in maintaining the stability and the influence of the United States.


Goldlewis will be available for players who own the Guilty Gear -Strive- Season Pass 1 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, as well as on Steam starting July 27. The character will be available for individual purchase PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on July 30.

Guilty Gear -Strive-, which has now surpassed 500,000 units sold worldwide, is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC.

Get ready for the fight with Guilty Gear -Strive- Opening Movie

Get a glimpse of the Guilty Gear -Strive- universe and characters with this Opening Movie featuring most of the cast, some playable like I-No, others non-playable like Colin Vernon, the President of the United States, that will take part in the culmination of Sol Badguy’s story.

The Story mode will present over four hours of anime cutscenes, while the story depicted in the Arcade mode will be following up the Story mode.

Guilty Gear -Strive- will be released on 11th June 2021 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC. Pre-orders for the Deluxe and Ultimate edition will have an Early Access that will start on 8th June 2021.

Guilty Gear -Strive- Open Beta Test # 2 will be held from 14 – 16 May

Guilty Gear -Strive- Open Beta Test #2 will be happening from 14 May to 16 May, on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. In this new Beta Test, players will be able to try their hand on the complete roster of the game as Anji Mito and I-No join the list of playable characters.

The servers will be opened during the following times:

  • 14 May, 11:00AM ~ 16 May, 10:59PM (GMT+8)

In addition to the newcomers, the Open Beta Test #2 also comes with improved balancing as well as a revamped online lobby system that players will be able to discover. During the Second Open Beta Test, the following modes will be available:

  • Offline Modes:
    • VS COM / VS 2P
    • Tutorial Mode
    • Training Mode
  • Network Mode:
    • Online Match

*Player Matches will not be available during the beta test.

Crossplay will be supported allowing PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players to face each other.

Pre-download for the Open Beta Test #2 will start on 7 May at 10:00AM in each country and players that still have the previous Open Beta Test version downloaded will have a patch that will update the version for the new Beta Test. Details on the timing for the patch availability will be communicated at a later date. In addition to that, the content that will be available during the Early Access for pre-orders of the Deluxe and Ultimate edition, which starts on 8 June 2021, has changed. Players will be able to pick their favorite character from the full roster, and play the online modes. The Story mode will be available in its entirety.

Guilty Gear™ -Strive- gets a new release date set on 11th June 2021

Guilty Gear -Strive-, is having a new release date and will now be available on 11th June 2021. The added time will allow Arc System Works to continue working on delivering the best experience possible for players by polishing some aspects of the game, such as online lobbies and server stability.

For players that have preordered the Deluxe and Ultimate version of the game, Early Access* will now be available on 8th June 2021. Pre-orders for the game are available on the PlayStation Store and on PC. Owners of the PlayStation 4 version will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.

*Early Access will have 13 out of 15 characters playable. For the Story mode, only the prologue will be available before the release. During the Early Access, online modes will not be available.


Singapore, 9 APRIL 2020 – BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment (BNE) and ARC SYSTEM WORKS (ASW) today announced that Guilty Gear -Strive- will be published in EMEA and Asia (except South Korea and Japan) by BNE. The partnership reconfirms the relationship between the two publishers, after the collaboration on the critically acclaimed DRAGON BALL FIGHTERZ. Guilty Gear -Strive- will release on PlayStation 4 in autumn 2020.

Guilty Gear -Strive-is the seventh main installment in the Guilty Gear Franchise. This latest iteration will bring the franchise to the next level with new gameplay and updated design, created by the main development team that is lauded over their previous work.

The closed beta test for Guilty Gear -Strive- will run from April 16 to April 19, 2020. Both Online Match play and VS COM will be available in the beta and participants will be able to play with Sol, Ky, Chipp, Axl, Potemkin, May, and Faust.
