■What is the TEKKEN series?
The TEKKEN series is a series of 3D fighting games that dates back to 1994 as an arcade game that made its way to home gaming consoles. The games are known for their in-depth fighting mechanics and exhilarating gameplay, bringing about strategic player versus player bouts. The games have been supported for more than 25 years by a wide demographic of players, with core players comprised of males in their late teens to 40s. The series has been recognized by Guinness World RecordsTMas the “Longest-running 3D fighting videogame franchise” (21 years and 179 days), and the “Longest-running videogame storyline” (20 years and 99 days). The series has also made its way across many mediums as an IP such as in a full-length CG movie, in pachinko and pachislot machines, among others.
The TEKKEN series has proactively taken part in the esports movement (*2). Official TEKKEN world tournaments started from 2015 with prize pools for top placers, and from 2017, the home console version of TEKKEN 7 was used for the game’s official international tournament series, “TEKKEN World Tour” (*3). The game series also takes center stage in many world-class fighting game events.
The series is also committed to building and supporting game communities worldwide. Starting from May 2018, TEKKEN 7 official tournaments are periodically held in Japan (*4) that consistently gather more than 100 fans on each occasion to challenge and communicate with one another. From 2019, the series has adopted community-based tournaments into the official world tournament schedule, which brought heated TEKKEN 7 battles across the communities worldwide, further expanding the breadth of TEKKEN communities. With the help of all the fans and the communities, the game series has reached the staggering 50 million unit sales mark.
■More than 95% of sales from overseas; TEKKEN 7 sells 6 million units
TEKKEN 7, which was released in June 2017 for the PlayStation4, Xbox One, and STEAM, has sold more than 6 million units and counting. The game supports 12 different languages (*5), with more than 95% of the game sales coming from outside of Japan, breaking down to 4% in Japan, approximately 6% in Asia, approximately 30% in North America and LATAM, and approximately 60% in EU and Australia.
TEKKEN 7 has been designed with esports in mind, with features and effects that are enticing to players and spectators. Players with low health can unleash Rage Art through a specific command to deal crushing damage to their opponents, and spectators can enjoy seeing finisher moves through the game’s Super Slow feature where the players go into slow motion before the deciding blow is dealt when both sides are low on health. These and many other features that cinematically bring out the action have been well received, bringing the excitement to players and spectators alike.
It has been well over 3 years since the release of TEKKEN 7, and the game continues to sell well, even to this day. The ascension of esports offering greater spectating opportunities, player posted bouts bringing newcomers to the franchise, timely delivered downloadable contents, free feature updates, among others, have kept the game on player radars, leading to boosts in sales, which can be seen with sales in 2019 surpassing sales in 2018. We will continue our analysis of worldwide gameplay data and trends, development to community communication and direct interactions, communication with players through social media, and more, so that we can seek ways to bring more fun to everyone.
■Activities to support the fighting game market
In an effort to support and invigorate the fighting game market, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment held an online, live stream program in August 2020 known as the “Japan Fighting Game Publishers Roundtable” where 6 Japanese game companies joined in a roundtable meeting to discuss pre-selected player suggested themes.
We will continue to promote the TEKKEN series for all to enjoy. BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment follows its corporate slogan to the word – more fun for everyone. We will strive to bring the fun to everyone throughout the world.

One day, an online video caught his eye… Julia Chang had started a crowdfunding campaign for her reforestation program and was seeking supporters. Determined to help his beloved Julia, Ganryu quickly moved to support her campaign. Although, in his exuberance, he accidentally donated all of his restaurant’s earnings to her cause.
Unable to cancel his contribution, Ganryu and his restaurant were suddenly faced with a crisis. After racking his brain to come up with a way to raise the money, he decided to become an online video personality much like Julia herself.

Paid DLC 12 Playable Character – Leroy Smith

Nearly a half century ago, the city of New York was overrun with countless gangs whose members numbered in the hundreds of thousands. With both the police and politicians in the gangs’ pockets, nobody was able to stop their rampage, and the general public was left with no choice but to try to survive the chaos.
As the gangs looked to expand their control over the city, it often led to violent clashes between them, which eventually erupted into all-out war. The streets were overtaken by gunfire, resulting in numerous casualties amongst young and old, man and woman alike. Explosions and deadly fires erupted throughout the city, turning the once vibrant streets of New York into a war-torn hellscape.
At the time, a young boy named Leroy Smith lost his entire family to the violence. Leroy was also badly injured by the gunfire and fell into a river, eventually getting swept out to sea, where he was rescued by a merchant vessel who took him in. As he drifted in and out of consciousness, Leroy was angry at his own helplessness and harbored a desire for revenge against the ruthless gangs that had taken his family from him.
And so, he left America behind and traveled the world until he came across the fighting art known as wing chun in the streets of Hong Kong. Leroy was fascinated by this martial art that was designed to face multiple opponents while using superior combat expertise to render one’s attackers powerless. He decided to stay in Hong Kong in order to learn the mysterious fighting style.
Many years passed…
Eventually, the incident in New York came to be known as the Big Apple War and 50 years later, although weakened compared to their peak, the gangs still controlled much of the city. Upon learning this, Leroy decided to return to New York in order to avenge his family and finally free his city from the endless grip of fear and violence. Taking it upon himself, Leroy struck at the gangs with extreme force, instantly crippling their power and influence.
Amidst Leroy‘s quest, a gang lord familiar with the old days informed Leroy that it was the Mishima Zaibatsu that was behind the war that tore the city apart a half a century ago. Surprised that the mega conglomerate currently waging a war to split the world in two was also responsible for the atrocities committed so long ago, Leroy nonetheless resolved to eradicate the corporation if it truly was behind all of the evils he had seen.
To carry out his quest, he decided to enter The King of Iron Fist Tournament, which was organized by the Mishima Zaibatsu itself.

Fahkumram is a Muay Thai fighter who once reigned as a Thai national hero. Fahkumram started learning Muay Thai from a young age and has a conspicuous presence ever since. He was unfortunately struck by lightning at the age of 12, which left him struggling between life and death.
After miraculously surviving the incident, Fahkumram grew into a huge body of well over 2 meters and climbed to the top of Muay Thai champion at the age of 18 using his unrivaled skill and smart tactical thinking. After that, he won all fights and became a national hero as an absolute undefeated champion. Fahkumram later married at the peak of his popularity and built a happy family with his wife and daughter.
When Fahkumram was 24 years old, he was offered an enormous sum of money to be defeated intentionally in a set-up match organised by an anonymous group. Unable to accept this inequitable practice, Fahkumram K.O. the opponent as soon as the match begins. Being defied of the demand, the men attempted to kill Fahkumram, but the tables turned and men were killed instead.
Fahkumram insisted on his right to self-defense after being caught by the police. However, the men who were involved in the set-up match were corrupted military and police officials, which lead to Fahkumram being detained, and his wife and daughter to be placed under house arrest by the military. Fahkumram became a de facto hostage under strict surveillance by the military. He is only allowed to participate in fighting tournaments, which were secretly held in the underside of the society and forced to fight against tigers as a show match. In the days of dreadful treatments and endless fights, Fahkumram gradually became more and more violent, both physically and mentally.
After four years, the fight between Mishima Zaibatsu and Company G intensified all over the world. Seeing the Mishima Zaibatsu as a threat to the country, the military ordered Fahkumram to enter as a national representative and win the tournament called The King of Iron Fist Tournament. In exchange for his family’s freedom, Fahkumram accepted the conditions and participated in the tournament.

EVO Japan 2019 has revealed a cast of characters soon to be joining SoulCalibur VI and Tekken 7, and we take a closer look at these upcoming fighters in their latest trailer videos.
A new face to the Tekken series, Negan from The Walking Dead will be making his debut alongside his trusty barbed-wire bat, Lucille, and he’s set to take on anyone foolish enough to stand in his way. Fans will also be delighted to know that Negan will be joined by Julia, a familiar name in the series, so be sure to check the both of them out in the trailer.
Julia Chang climbed into the ring as the mysterious masked woman “Jaycee”, as a substitute for her childhood friend who was injured in a car accident.
Being truly strong, she was disliked by her opponents and even the audience started to view her as a heel, and she increasingly faced intense booing from the crowd.
After removing her mask, she changed her hairstyle, wore glasses, and concentrated on expanding her reforestation efforts around the globe so that no one would recognize her out of the ring.
As her reforestation project required plenty of capital, she started a crowdfunding campaign but had failed to gain a sufficient amount of visibility.
It was at that time that media began speculating that Kazuya Mishima was actually Devil. This gave Julie an idea; if she managed to beat Kazuya, she would get enough attention to secure enough funds for her reforestation project to be successful.
With that objective, Julia started her journey to find Kazuya.
The Walking Dead’s Negan, the charismatic leader of the Saviors, brought other communities together under his thumb with the motto, ‘People are a resource’.
One day, Negan received reports that an unknown group had taken out several of his men. Per his standard policy, he enacted a plan to capture them, make an example out of one, and put the rest to work for him. The survivors fell into Negan’s carefully laid trap, but just as he was choosing his victim to serve as an example, the group put up an intense fight and escaped.
Negan worried they would disturb his new world order if he did not deal with them swiftly. Taking his barbed-wire bat Lucille – named after his beloved wife – into his hand, he set out to take care of these foolish ingrates who would challenge his authority.
Amy Sorel, along with her weapon Albion, returns to SoulCalibur VI in DLC4, and will be available as part of the game’s Season Pass.
Birthplace: Slums of Rouen, French Empire
Date of Birth: Unknown. Met Raphael on October 22nd
Blood Type: Unknown
Weapon: Rapier (small)
Weapon Name: Albion
Fighting Style: Modified La Rapière des Sorel
Relationships: Raphael (foster father & mentor). Biological parents unknown
Born in the slums of Rouen in the French Empire, Amy grew up in a cold world full of violence and cynicism. She quickly became resigned to her circumstances, convinced that hope was nothing more than fuel for despair.
One day, a ruckus erupted within the slums. Amy was on her way back to where she slept when suddenly a man flew out from seemingly nowhere, colliding with her and knocking them both to the ground. The man appeared to be a noble, and Amy wondered what business he had in the slums. The sound of soldiers’ footsteps filled the air. The man was being chased.
It had not been Amy’s intention to help him, and his plight inspired no compassion within her. Amy’s sole interest was to spite the soldiers in return for the cruelty their kind had always shown her, nothing more.
She got them to leave by making up a lie only a pack of foolish soldiers would believe. However, the man was still there, staring at Amy as though he had made a prized discovery. In all her life, no one had ever looked at her like that.
He asked her name and, upon hearing her answer, muttered it several times before beginning to weep. He expressed to her his profound thanks.
Together with the man, who called himself Raphael, Amy left the slums behind. The wheels of fate had been set into motion as Amy began walking her path with her own feet for the first time, now face to face with that which she had rejected for so long: hope.
Fueled with a need for revenge, Armour King is determined to face off against his brother’s killer. Will you wrestle your way to the top and settle the score?
Armour King makes his return to TEKKEN 7 and nothing will stand in his way of exacting revenge.
Armour King, the man who went after Craig Marduk to avenge his dead brother.
When they finally came to blows with each other, they both ended up seriously injuring each another and were transported to the hospital in an unconscious state.
A few days later, he regained consciousness and found a letter on the side of his bed from Marduk demanding a match to finish what had been started.
The fight, if accepted, would settle their dispute but it was also stipulated that if Marduk lost, he would be retiring from the fighting scene. On the other hand, if Armour King lost, his mask would be forcibly removed from his face.
With no reason to refuse, Armour King accepted the challenge and started his training for the showdown that he so desired.
Regarding TEKKEN 7’s Steam version, we have confirmed that after applying Version 2.20, Craig Marduk and Armour King’s in-game rank and stats reset in some cases.
We are currently working to find a solution.
Thank you for your patience and continued support.
Burning with rage, Craig Marduk is eager to challenge Armour King once again to determine their fates. Will you crush bones and become the ultimate champion?
Craig Marduk returns to the ring in TEKKEN 7 for some fierce showdowns, starting December 3, 2018.
Craig Marduk, the man who killed Armour King.
After he came to blows with Armour King’s younger brother who took the mantle of his deceased brother, they both ended up seriously injuring each another and passing out.
After waking in his hospital bed, Marduk realised that he had strange injection marks on his body but paid no heed to them since nothing felt out of the ordinary as he got up and moved around. He immediately tried to find the current Armour King, but was stopped by King, who insisted Marduk should wait until Armour King had regained consciousness and settle the score in the ring.
Still filled with rage towards his opponent and not satisfied with just a regular fight, he proposed raising the stakes by declaring he would retire from the ring if he lost, or remove Armor King’s mask if he were to win.
Even though his opponent had not yet regained consciousness, Marduk began training for the confrontation that would determine their fates.
