Bandai Namco Entertainment Asia is pleased to announce that SWORD ART ONLINE Last Recollection will be launching on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and STEAM® in 2023.

The game’s official website and teaser trailer have also been released, as well as information on a new character that will appear in the game. The game’s theme song will also be performed by ReoNa, the vocal artist behind “Scar/let” – the main theme for SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris.

SWORD ART ONLINE Last Recollection Arrives in 2023 Originally based on a novel by Reki Kawahara, SWORD ART ONLINE is an acclaimed anime series that follows the adventures of its young protagonist, Kirito, within the next-generation Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game known as SWORD ART ONLINE.

This latest entry in the series is based on an all-new “War of Underworld” story arc unique to this game and features more characters and episodes than ever before to portray a setting different from that of the source material and anime.

The threat of annihilation draws near for Underworld, a virtual world designed to give birth to the supreme AI known as A.L.I.C.E.

The Final Stress Test served as the beginning of the end... The gate dividing the Human Realm and the Dark Territory has been opened, causing the shadow of war to be cast over the two realms.

Just then, the Dark Knight, accompanied by a young girl, bursts through the gate before Kirito and his companions...

Compared to the Human Realm, the Dark Territory is a harsh and unforgiving environment filled with many beings of various origins. Experience a never-before-seen side of the Underworld’s dark and deadly confines.

Volforne Drylands This dry, arid region is located near the ogres’ stronghold. There are strange ruins located near the remains of once massive creatures, but entry into the area is strictly prohibited.

Prerudo Mycelia Forest This foreboding forest features massive trees that have been overtaken by fungi. It is said that magical creatures known as Divine Beasts once populated the area.

Tektahn Mountains This mountainous region features massive ruins that lie near the giants’ territory. Strange anomalies affecting the region’s gravity have given rise to frequent earthquakes – the aftermath of which can be seen throughout the area.

City of Darkness A city that serves as a base on the front lines in the war against the Human Realm. There are a variety of different races that reside and interact within its borders.

New images of Dorothy, an original character for the game, have been released for the first time. Players’ encounter with this character, who has never been seen in the source material or anime, is set to have a profound effect on their journey as the story unfolds.

ReoNa returns to sing the main theme! The theme song for the game will be sung by ReoNa, an artist known for her work on “ANIMA”, the opening theme song for the second season of the SWORD ART ONLINE: Alicization – War of Underworld anime, as well as “Scar/let”, the main theme song for the game, SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris.

ReoNa’s Profile A talented young musician, she performed a song as the character Elsa Kanzaki in the TV anime, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online, that aired in April 2018, and released a mini album entitled ELZA as “Elsa Kanzaki starring ReoNa”, which went on to become a major hit that helped launch her fledgling career.

ReoNa also sang the opening theme song, “ANIMA”, for the second season of the anime, SWORD ART ONLINE: Alicization – War of Underworld, as well as “Scar/let”, the main theme song for the game, SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris.

In October 2020, she announced the release of her first album, unknown, which included “Till the End” – the 10th anniversary theme song for the SWORD ART ONLINE series. ReoNa also went on a tour of 16 live music venues across the country in the autumn of 2022 and played her first solo performance at the Nippon Budokan entitled “ReoNa ONE-MAN Concert 2023 ‘Pilgrim’ at Nippon Budokan -3.6 day: Let’s escape together-” on March 6, 2022.

The virtual world known as Underworld, the home of numerous AI, finds itself on the brink of war.
